Plastered with pulp fiction covers, and located at the creepy end of Christopher, Malatesta enjoys the perfect location for its raffish food, which hails from the poorer southward part of Emilia-Romagna. Enjoy the stuffed flatbread piadina, or the predictably great bolognese sauce, here called by its proper name of tagliatelle al ragu.

    In name at least, Malatesta ("cracked in the head") is the only place we know demented enough for Bush's last meal. Since he'll hopefully be executed by the decree of a war-crimes tribunal sometime soon, it's appropriate that he enjoy a carbo-loading repast on the evening before his gassing. At Malatesta, fitting the mood of his enraged constituents, he'll enjoy penne all arrabbiata ("angry pasta"), followed by polpette, a huge veal meatball that might remind him of his own dull-witted head....     Obscurely located and with a darkened interior, Malatesta is a favorite of slumming celebrities. You won't break the bank with the lusty fare from Emilia-Romagna, including a delicious oven-baked flatbread called piadina, which comes wrapped around a handful of fillings (my favorite: spinach).
