Dinner reservations are required while spending a night at the invitation-only Magic Castle. You can easily spend five hours here, watching various magic acts, perusing the mysterious hallways, ogling photos of well-known and odd-ball magicians hanging on the walls. The dinner menu isn't huge, but includes vegetarian, fish and meat options such as lobster, pasta, and filet mignon. Make sure to leave your camera at home: no food paps allowed.

While inventing clever ways to snag an invite to the members-only Magic Castle is an amusing parlor game, there's no shame in buying your way past the door. The Magic Castle Open Sesame Membership gives you and a guest 30 days of admission to the mysterious Hollywood landmark for a reasonable $100 (you can bring more guests, but they'll have to pay a cover), allowing you a monthlong taste of the country-club lifestyle of stopping by your private club for a gimlet from the cute bartender with... It's all magic and very old school, with a touch of camp. You need to be a guest of a member, so seek one out and prepare for a really unique experience. Once inside, it's sort of like a magic theme park - with "haunted" paintings and a variety of live shows to catch featuring everything from sleight of hand tricks to juggling. I highly recommend taking in a show at the "Close-Up Gallery" - where you can see the stage and magician close enough that you will be shocked that you can't catch how (s)he is doing the trick!
