Lumiere Place is the premier gambling and entertainment mecca in downtown St. Louis. It's an immense cathedral to decadence; the 75,000-square-foot gaming floor is crammed with more slot machines, roulette tables and Wheels of Fortune than you can shake a stick at, and you'll find the most fascinating collection of persons in the joint, from grandmas neatly pulling sick stacks of twenties out of the many ATMs to awed, fresh-faced college students popping their casino cherries. Hotel Lumiere is Missouri's one and only AAA Diamond hotel, and the lighting is informed by the incomparable work of Dale Chihuly and the Aqua Lounge boasts local and national touring acts a few nights a week. Casinos don't get much better than this.

Don't hate the RFT for the number of days you will now have "Take Me Home Tonight" stuck in your head. Blame Eddie Money. Since the pop maestro's heyday roughly three decades ago, he has wormed his way into both ears and the charts with all the... More »
Lumière Place feels like Las Vegas. And there is no greater compliment for a casino in the heartland. Its gambling floor is sleek and elegant, with muted tones and soft lights framing 2,000 slot machines, more than 50 tables and, in an adjacent room, a baker's dozen of poker tables. Strolling through the grounds, you'll notice the pleasant diversity of the patrons: tailored suits beside transparent green visors beside gray Puma sweat suits. Need a place to calm the nerves while your... More »
You shouldn't have to resort to this. You should have sneaked out in the middle of the night. Even though it all went down at your place. But here it is Saturday morning, and for some ridiculous reason you feel the need to be hospitable. So it's off to Lumière Place Casino and the $12 breakfast buffet. The grub's actually pretty good, and it's greasy enough to absorb what's left of the alcohol that's settled in your stomach, although the smoke wafting over from the casino floor just... More »
