Description

The 100-seat room is starkly handsome, an industrial black ceiling and gray cement floor warmed by illuminated bamboo trees (not real), shiny mahogany tabletops, and, toward the rear, a brick oven with roaring flames. Out of this oven comes the most convincing of Luce's comestibles -- thin, crispy-crusted pizzas with toppings that range from pepperoni to prosciutto. Otherwise, the best starters are eggplant rollatini and clams oreganata. Main courses are hefty and well-priced but nothing to go out of the way for. Luce, in fact, is at its best when you're seated at the long, marble-topped, stainless-steel bar with pizza or one of numerous pleasing paninis and a tall glass of draft beer.
