It might be a set from Godfather IV: Christ-like, the pizzaiolo stands before a wooden table laden with balls of fresh mozzarella and other seductive ingredients, the lights are turned down low, and the space is lit by the flickering flames from the wood-burning oven in this self-consciously rustic establishment. (How the hell can he see what he's doing?) Luckily, the pizzas totally rock, with a crust like you might find in Staten Island--maybe a little too doughy, but the sauce and cheese send it into orbit. A short toppings list and no salads or extraneous dishes of any sort goes with the quirky territory.
