Lovers of Today, the latest in semi-secret Alphabet City cocktail bars, does everything right. As one emphatic Yelp user once declared, "Bring your date here, and you'll get laid." We'd have to agree. This tiny subterranean speakeasy possesses subdued, classic decor with a Hogwarts mystique: vintage chandeliers, weathered plastered walls, leather-booth seating, a mahogany ceiling. And, most importantly, Steven. He's the lanky, bespectacled bartender who prepares 10 types of $12 cocktails, the ingredients of which are delicately painted on the window. "Fan Mail," for example, consists of lime, lavender, honey, aged rum, and champagne. Did you hear that? Lavender! Yeah, these drinks are definitely worth 12 bucks, especially if you're buying two.
