This thriving enterprise produces those giant Mexican sammies known as tortas. Gringos, beware: These are the Godzillas of the sandwich world, and could easily kick your ciabatta's butt, then go on to feed a family of six. The torta del rey is like a Mexican Dagwood, with fried beef, ham, egg, chorizo, avocado, and about a half-dozen more items, grilled and stacked high in a soft Mexican bread known as a telera. Los Reyes de la Torta also boasts a juice bar with all types of fresh-squeezed aguas frescas - lime, pineapple, mango, and so on. Or you can have six or more juices together in a colossal drink called a bomba, and somewhat alleviate the guilt of downing that artery-clogging sandwich.

Los Reyes de la Torta is the king of Mexican food in North Phoenix. It's good solo or for an entire family, and if we lived in Sunnyslope, we would definitely eat here on the reg. We love eating in and watching the hustle and bustle from the open kitchen, while indulging in a cold cerveza or a tall aguas fresca. The tortas are tasty, but so is everything else on the menu. The quesadillas are one of our favorites: huge, thick, fluffy homemade corn tortillas folded in half and stuffed with... More »
Aguas frescas literally translates to "fresh waters" in English, and Los Reyes de la Torta has "the kings" right in its name. So naturally, when it comes to aguas, Los Reyes reigns supreme. Enjoy an impressive variety of jewel-toned aguas reminiscent of Kool-Aid, minus the sugar high and neon food coloring. Try the jamaica, a bright red hibiscus flower drink, or the classic watermelon. And if you're feeling a bit naughty, snag a strawberry, mango, or guava cremosa, laden with smooth cream. A... More »
Los Reyes de la Torta (translated, the Sandwich Kings) of Sunnyslope reign supreme in the realm of aguas frescas, those luscious-looking fresh-fruit drinks sold on just about every corner throughout Mexico. They're sort of the Aztec answer to the Sonic Sunrise, but without the diabetes-inducing corn syrup and artificial flavoring. For a mere $3.25 at Los Reyes, you can revel in an obscenely large goblet filled with the natural fruit water of your choice. The flavor list seems endless --... More »

The flavor list seems endless — pineapple, strawberry, cantaloupe, watermelon, mango, lime, orange, papaya, apple, celery, or more exotic horchata (a cinnamon-y rice drink) and oatmeal (we've yet to try the oatmeal, which sounds intriguing). Let your creative juices flow and create your own combo for just 50 cents more. And plan on sharing one of these puppies; they're so big that you'll have a hard time finishing one by yourself.
