LA Weekly's Description

Opened in 1941, the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel continues to be the most glamorous restaurant in the Los Angeles area, bar none. (Heck, we saw Warren Beatty there not too long ago.) The place has an elegant, understated style, a worldly sophistication and an extremely attentive waitstaff. We have a special fondness for the gardenlike outdoor patio, especially at night, with its candlelit ambience. There's light jazz on the patio during both brunch and summer nights; tea is served in the afternoons Monday through Saturday. The California cuisine, including spice-crusted wild salmon, isn't cheap, but you're buying an experience — and one worth having whenever possible.

Tips from foursquare

  • Bravo on 08/08/11

The Bev Hills gals decompressed here, post-dinner party from hell. No electronic cigarettes allowed.

  • AskMen on 05/28/10

It's venerable, ancient & it serves prickly pear margaritas (check out their exhaustive list of speciality cocktails for variations and alternatives).

  • AskMen on 04/01/11

If you’re having a drink, sit in the front of the polo lounge. Enjoy a glass of wine while listening to the piano and expect to see anyone from The Olsens to George Hamilton.

  • Esquire on 02/01/11

Congratulations, you've found one of Esquire's Best Bars in America. The tenders of this small bar will do everything they can to make exactly what you ask for, even if it's a regrettable choice.

  • One of the entertainment industry’s most legendary L.A. restaurants and Power Lunch spots. Legend has it that Marlene Dietrich and Mia Farrow were banned for wearing pants.
