Description

LA Weekly's Description

The elegant theater, which opened in 1926, is one of the classic movie palaces on Broadway in downtown Los Angeles. After a long restoration, the historic venue has returned to its vintage appearance, with a Beaux Arts facade and an in-house Wurlitzer organ. Such performers as the Marx Brothers, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Judy Garland and Stevie Wonder have appeared on its stage, and in more recent years it's hosted musicians like Natalie Merchant, Jackson Browne and Keane and television programs like America's Got Talent. And, in keeping with its storied past, the Orpheum still screens all manner of classic movies, including the L.A. Conservancy's beloved Last Remaining Seats series. No matter who's performing at the Orpheum, the venue itself is the star, with a balcony looking down over a large lobby, which is festooned with ornate lamp sculptures, vintage Deco couches and lavishly patterned carpets. All ages. Street parking.

She brought along a quartet that tried to fill in for drums, guitar, and electric bass. They did as much as they could, and actually were quite good, but the lack of impact from drums left a small void in my opinion. Tori is still a show to never miss... More >>

Seriously one of our favorite venues in LA and not just because of its historic esthetic! The opera boxes are great for celeb sightings, we’ve seen Johnny Depp enjoying a show from one.

  • One of the best smaller theaters I have seen a band play at. Love this place...Decor is fantastic!!
