LA Weekly's Description

Segerstrom Center for the Arts is unique as both an acclaimed arts institution and as a multi-disciplinary
cultural campus. To put it bluntly, it’s the classiest venue in the whole damn County. Previously called
the Orange County Performing Arts Center, Segerstrom Center traces its roots back to the late 1960s
when a dedicated group of community leaders decided Orange County should have its own world-class
performing arts venue which brings in national ballet and theater companies. In addition to the 3,000-seat
Segerstrom Hall and intimate 250-seat Founders Hall, which opened in 1986, and the 2,000-seat Renée
and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall (opened in 2006) also houses the 500-seat Samueli Theater, the
Lawrence and Kristina Dodge Education Center’s studio performance space and Boeing Education Lab.
Home to newer institutions like the Off Center Festival that manage to bring in the coveted 25 and under
crowd, the center has come a long way towards making this upscale culture palace a place for everyone
to enjoy.

Merchant's Description

As Orange County's largest non-profit arts organization, Segerstrom Center for the Arts owns and operates the 3,000-seat Segerstrom Hall and intimate 250-seat Founders Hall, which opened in 1986, and the 2,000-seat Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall, which opened in 2006 and also houses the 500-seat Samueli Theater, and the Lawrence and Kristina Dodge Education Center's studio performance space and Boeing Education Lab. These state-of-the-art facilities are united by a spacious Arts Plaza. The name of the Center was changed from the Orange County Performing Arts Center to Segerstrom Center for the Arts in January, 2011 in recognition of the unparalleled generosity and leadership of the Segerstrom family.

The campus includes all of Segerstrom Center's own venues as well as the adjacent Tony® Award-winning South Coast Repertory and a site designated as the new home of the Orange County Museum of Art.

The Center presents a broad range of programming each season for audiences of all ages from throughout Orange County and beyond, including international ballet and dance, national tours of top Broadway shows, intimate performances of jazz and cabaret, contemporary artists, classical music performed by renowned chamber orchestras and ensembles, family-friendly programming, free performances open to the public from outdoor movie screenings to dancing on the plaza and many other special events.

Valet parking is not worth it. Just park across the street at the mall.

Pre-order a beverage so it's ready for you at intermission (thanks for that one Mary!)

Peter Pan is amazing! Outdoor theater is very cool!

Beautiful architecture and Pacific Symphony is great. But if you really want excellence on another level, go downtown and see the LA Phil at Walt Disney Concert Hall for a treat. You'll be glad you
