Description

LA Weekly's Description

Rick Bayless, the famous Chicago name behind this swanky, often-packed Mexican restaurant, created the menu. Its rooms are divided by garage-style doors, and it has a retractable skylight, tequila lounge and long bar, a wall of antique bells, a vast communal table - and wall art resembling box springs. Favorites include the goat cheese tamales and pork belly sopes.

ummm finally a restaurant that knows how to do queso!! queso fundido + bacon....DO IT. The drink menu was refreshing, and the food DELICIOUS. There are swings by the bar that I may have wished to sleep in and not leave. Call and make a reservation before 5 pm.

The exterior belies what's inside: you'll feel like you're at a resort in Mexico. They do some seriously fun things with tequila and vodka (try the former in a spicy margarita with a chili pepper finish, the latter with basil and black pepper). The guacamole and short rib sopes are a must. Reservations definitely required but not difficult to get on the earlier side on a weeknight.

Rick Bayless's West Hollywood hot-spot where the prices are justified by the provenance of the ingredients (i.e. suckling pig cochinita pibil).

Try the Hot Cakes Indigenas with white corn pancakes, whipped goat cheese, agave syrup, red chile-glazed, applewood-smoked bacon & 2 sunny side-up eggs would close out the weekend perfectly.
