LA Weekly's Description

Step back in time at Montrose Bowl, the tiny eight-lane bowling alley along Honolulu Avenue in Montrose. The lanes have been in service since 1936, and still feature a manual scoring system and lots of early 1950s decor, including Googie signage and buttoned red booths. Since open bowling is only available to members of the general public for a few hours a week (at around $25 per lane), Montrose Bowl is better known for hosting private events. Depending on the scale of the shindig, guests can step back into the kitchen to prepare their own food, or let owners Maria and Bob Berger work out the details. Whichever party you choose, the blast-from-the-past feel of Montrose Bowl is sure to take you back in time.

One of the oldest bowling alleys in LA County since 1936 on Montrose's quaint main boulevard. 1950s decor & jukebox. Specializes in birthdays, reunions, wedding receptions & showers! ~Liana Aghajanian

Monday nights starting at six is public bowling! Usually, this place is only for private parties, and I was surprised to see the sign and go! Make sure you don't miss it-there aren't a lot of lanes!
