LA Weekly's Description
Hide Sushi is one of the most popular restaurants for cheap, safe, and reliable sushi on the west side. The interior is casual and basic, containing a few tables as well as a sushi bar. To obtain a seat in the often busy restaurant you'll have to put your name down on arrival, as they don't take reservations. Other menu items include straightforward options such as tempura, chicken teriyaki and the like. Hide is cash only, but does have its own ATM.
Tips from foursquare
Great value for money sushi. If you don't want to wait, go early, sit at the bar, and order from the chef. My fav is Hamachi Belly and Halibut Fin: both are off menu items.
Always sit at the bar! Cash only!
Try the live shrimp. It's delish. They bring the head out at the end of your meal deep-fried. Eat the whole thing. Even the eyeballs.
very good and my daughter loves the uni.
I've been coming to Hide for some 30+ years. Even convinced a former g/f to work there since I liked the place so much. Just fyi, Fernando is the guy who fills your tea; been there since the beginning
