Description

LA Weekly's Description

Just off Coldwater Canyon at Mulholland in the Hollywood Hills is a secluded nature retreat millions of mental miles away from the clamor of rush-hour traffic. Franklin Canyon Park takes up 605 acres, and is home to a duck pond, five miles of hiking trails, an amphitheater and a nature museum. This is a great place to take our pets or your kids, for an hour or for the whole day. Either way, you’ll be happy to feel like you’re out of the city even though all you’ve done is make your way into its hills.

A great spot for a run but to help prevent yourself from stumbling over roots and rocks, try lifting your feet (and toes) higher than you would on pavement.

I do my "walking children in nature" walks here. I'm familiar with the flora & fauna because I teach kids about nature... poison oak (leaves of three, let it be!) -Tammie Brown, RuPaul's Drag Race
