LA Weekly's Description
Inside downtown's famed Oviatt, the first Art Deco building erected in L.A., Cicada takes up a 15,000-square-feet, 30-foot-high room dripping with 1928 design flourishes. The Northern Italian, seafood-intensive menu of pastas, salads and appetizers also features lobster linguini, risotto with scallops and shrimp and tuna tartare. Decadent hazelnut mousse cakes and berry cobblers are made in-house.
Tips from foursquare
LA Weekly's Best of LA 2010 pick - Best Club to Party Like "The Greatest Generation"!
Enjoy the live band Sundays and the award-winning décor. Pope Alexander VI would have come for the ambiance, and his son Juan would have come for the dancing. Talk about an awkward run-in.
The elegant art deco interior is actually so breathtaking you almost don’t care what’s on the menu, though Cicada does feature the finest in Italian fare & one of the classiest lounges in the city.
Add Mad Men to the long list of awesomeness that has been filmed here.
Take a ride in the 1928 elevator with the energetic elevator boy Kid Watson. Word has it he's a great swing dancer too!
