BierBeisl - CLOSED
Beverly Hills, CA 90210
LA Weekly's Description
BierBeisl's menu is a mix of high-end dishes and the classic foods of Austria goulash, schnitzel, sausages. The goulash is stewy and reassuring, less spiced than the version Beverly Hills has come to know at Spago. It's served with a generous portion of spaetzle, half noodle, half pancake. Schnitzel is golden-brown and savory you can choose from veal, pork or turkey. There's also one of the best charcuterie plates in town: nine types of Austrian sausages, forcemeats, pâtés and cured meats including tiroler, a high-end bologna made from veal and pork; landjaeger, a chewy, cured and cold-smoked beef sausage; and a house-made lard spread. The plate would be worth ordering for the collection of pickles alone beautifully spiced and acidic cauliflower, kohlrabi, garlic and more.
Tips from foursquare
Bernhard Mairinger's emporium of schnitzel, milk-poached weisswurst and creamy goulasch is a purely Austrian restaurant of a sort we have never quite seen here.
A smart new Austrian restaurant from former Patina chef de cuisine Bernhard Mairinger, who turns out polished contemporary cooking from a small open kitchen.
First Authentic Austrian Food Restaurant in Los Angeles
It's an Austrian place, so you'd be remiss if you didn't ask for the Vienna schnitzel w/ pork.
Everything from the starters to the dessert is amazing! Good beers and an excellent staff!
