Longboards is the latest restaurant from Rodney Mayo, the nightlife aficionado who opened Respectable Street Café, a dance club catering to punk kids, in 1987 — when downtown West Palm was a sketchy place at night. With its seafood-centric menu, Longboards may have the most ambitious menu of all of Mayo's holdings -- and trust us, it's a long list -- considering that to do well, the fish and seafood must be really fresh. The menu features six to eight varieties of raw oysters per night and a plethora of bivalve, crustacean, and burger options ranging from middle-neck clams with chorizo, leeks, and lemongrass, to cornmeal dusted oysters with vinegar peppers and truffle aioli, to lobster rolls to burgers. Whatever you do, make sure to save room for dessert -- the cookies and cream pie is out of this world.
