Maybe it's all the nearby leather shops and proximity to all Houston's best gay bars, but Lola's Depot reminds us of Nicolas Cage's cinematic "classic" 8MM. The stern staff pours strong drinks into plastic cups, and the atmosphere is always grimy rock and roll, just the thing for Lola's neighborhood. Be sure to hit this one up after dark, because you won't get the full effect during daylight hours; we usually end up here after the other kiddie bars in the neighborhood have exhausted our patience. You can use credit cards here now - the bar was a longtime "cash only" establishment - to the displeasure of your liver and the corporate expense account.
