The LDRC (J Berg, Dir is located in the integrated Human Services Campus which inludes CASS (Central AZ shelter Services), St Vincent DePaul, Andre House among others. The LDRC is notable nationwide in the battle against homelessness as it is host to wide variety of social service agencies comprising a full spectrum of aid for the homeless to attain self-suffiency. Specifically, this also includes personal growth opportunities spearheaded by Dawn Shires. For 30yrs Ms.Shires has dedicated her life towards the understanding of the human psyche & the individualistic realization of human potential, now "Transforming" the LDRC physically & from a client view mentally via rehab projects which center on developmental growth of the mind & spirit. Her devotion is untiring in this realm wich is evident by meeting her,for she is a unique individual in which the staff & clients appreciate. Her personal strength of will & exuberance knows no bounds;for she dosent just make lemonade out of lemons but fuel to power the sun itself thru her own energy. Dawn's unbridled enthusiasm, straightforward and freindly disposition breathes WHY NOT to those that ask WHY in myriad ways leading to realizing ones own potential. I t is urged to see www.volunteermatch.org to vol here, meet Dawn, and join her in transforming lives... Also - the LDRC is a great place to visit! Enlightening as well as educational, see up close and first hand some of Phoenix's most gripping social problems which I am sure Dawn would be more than happy to individually discuss. Dawn also presents the VERY entertaining and enlightening "Hero's Journey" film workshops which are designed as an inspiration to view life as an adventure where we are the key player and to recognize the strength we have within us to overcome and meet challenges our own way; presented most Saturdays from 1 - 4 PM, free and open to the public. In addition, among Dawn's most recent acheivements is in the design and opening of the 'Transformational Learning Center" which offers a variety of personal development programs; to see and hear her describe its opening, see www.youtube.com/westerneagle87 Pls call 602-393-3390 for more info or lv a detailed msg for Dawn if you'd like an appointment to meet her or attend her Sat "Hero's Journey" presentations. She's great and you'll be in for a most rewarding experience. Also, see the LDRC website www.lodestardrc.org The LDRC also host group guided tours of the entire Human Services campus; which may be of particular intrest to college students studying the social sciences - again contact as above.
