Description

Local restaurant in Silver Lake is all about sustainability, but its also about practicality. An organic salad bar sold by the pound provides quick, healthy relief to folks who need to grab lunch to-go or sit in the dining room, which is usually totally open to the street, like an indoor patio. Breakfast (served till 5 p.m.) is stacked with international favorites - chilaquiles, tofu scramble, Belgian waffle, and a selection of crepes. Lunch is made up of sturdy sandwiches and sides; the Niman ranch pulled pork sloppy joe is especially glutenous. Many kitchens would wrongly identify this sandwich as barbecue, but we're grateful for the correct culinary semantics. At dinner, however, an entire portion of the menu is dedicated to BBQ, in the form of ribs, chicken and lamb belly. There's also dinner sandwiches and vegetarian entrees, like a tofu and rice bowl and a tempeh tower. Local serves up affordable comfort food for a food-savvy audience.
