Located in the luxe Fontainebleau, LIV is upscale and known for its glamorous oomph. The VIP section is separated with velvet ropes and tight security. Balloon ceiling fixtures and lights displaying an array of trippy colors animate the large main space. The lower level houses a dance floor, and the upper level boasts a bar to congregate. DJs spin house music as well as some Top 40. LIV holds events that include special guest star DJs, live entertainment, and occasional celebrities. Unless you know someone that knows someone, expect an admission fee. A very strict door policy can make entry difficult, so make sure to dress to impress.

How can anyone fill an 18,000-square-foot club night after night after night? Ask David Grutman, the man behind Miami Marketing Group (MMG). After cutting his teeth at Tantra and the Opium Group, Grutman started MMG and later launched the Fontainebleau's LIV in 2008, creating one of the most talked-about and hard-to-access nightclubs far from the pulsating heart of South Beach. But when you have the iconic Fontainebleau as your home, it's not exactly difficult to draw the well-heeled... More »
For decades, the Fontainebleau had been regarded as the granddaddy of all luxury resorts in Miami Beach; by the '90s, it had lost a bit of its luster. But it's funny what a multibillion-dollar renovation can do. After a complete overhaul in 2009, the hotel reopened with a more youthful vibe, including a megaclub far away from South Beach. The legendary Tropigala, which had turned into a horrible, campy version of its former self toward its end, was replaced by LIV -- which is the roman... More »
Conceived in February 2009 by downtown revelers Poplife and Overthrow, Wednesday night's Dirty Hairy has become the best reason to go to work hung over Thursday morning. And while the pairing might seem odd -- a hipster dance party in Miami Beach's poshest nightclub -- it seems to have worked. There are typical South Beach elements: emphasis on bottle service, expensive drinks, and a cover charge based on gender and looks. Still, Dirty Hairy is a downtown party at heart. Acts such... So you secured a smoking-hot date for the evening and you want to be like Bruce Wayne taking out a Russian ballerina. Flash your credit card at the nearest exotic car rental, select that gunmetal-gray Lambo, pick up your honey, and head to LIV at the Fontainebleau. Find the VIP host and request one of the six skyboxes suspended over the main dance floor. High above the thumping, bumping party, you and your date will be completely isolated from all the regular club denizens battling each... More »
If you're in Miami and had to check out one hot spot, this would be it.
They have these LED lights in the ceiling – part of the lighting system that goes with the music. The lighting guy can make it so bright to light up the whole club during certain parts of the song -- like certain build-ups. That's really cool. It's such a cool club. Tables surround a nice, big dance floor. There are also tables upstairs. Great vibe.
LIV is a monster! Definitely cemented as one of the best clubs in the country right now. A truly over-the-top mega club inside the incredible revamped Fontainebleau Hotel. You can find me here on wednesdays and saturdays.
