Occupying what was formerly Chez Michallet, in the tenement made famous by the TV series Friends, Little Owl is a reconfigured bistro that adds all sorts of Asian, American, and Italian twists to the standard bistro formula. Thus we have meatball sliders, an appetizer that puts a spherical amalgam of beef, pork, and lamb on a trio of cute buns; a special of softshell crab tempura garnished with a tart Italian salsa verdi; and a surreal, fennel-flavored pork chop so thick you'll be taking most of it home. cozy, light filled, excellent food!
A hidden gem. I've been to A LOT of restaurants around the world, and this is by far my favorite. The food, waitstaff, ambiance, and decor made you feel like you were in your own little world.
The son of a French sea captain and a Congolese slave, ornithologist and painter John James Audubon was no vegetarian--he had to shoot the birds that he painted, using fine buckshot so as not to blow them apart, then trussing them up with invisible wires.
