Little India's take on Indian food is an odd mix of regional specialties, all cooked in the tradition of northern Indian cuisine by a Punjabi chef. The menu is long and dignified, showcasing the curries and masalas that even casual Indian-food eaters would recognize, as well as seven kinds of saag, specialties of Madras, Danshak, Bombay and Punjab, and even colonial dishes like the vindaloos from Goa. And everything from those complicated vindaloos to the simplest chutney has the potential to transport a diner to utter bliss.
Despite its name, Westword's eighteenth annual Artopia spotlighted much more than art. Across this year's five venues, the event also featured food from Little Man Ice Cream, The Shoppe, El Camino, Li... More »
We've lauded the lunch buffet at Little India in our annual Best of Denver issue more than once. Although you might think that one Indian-food buffet is pretty much like any other, Little India's sta... More »
While I enjoyed Little India (see review), eating there made me think about the best Indian place I'd tried in Denver: Maruti Narayan's. Because of Narayan's location at 12200 East Cornell Avenue in Aurora -- way back in a forgotten corner of the... More »

At this point, Indian buffets are almost ubiquitous. Which is handy, because that means you never have to go very far in Denver for an inexpensive hit of saag paneer or tandoori chicken. But with the profusion of options, it's also more and more difficult to tell the good from the bad. There's an easy solution for that: Just head for the best midday feast in town, the buffet at the original Little India. Don't let the full parking lot worry you. Or the line at the door. Or the line at the... More »
Little India's particular take on Indian food is an odd mix of regional specialties, all cooked in the tradition of northern Indian cuisine by a Punjabi chef hired by the restaurant's Punjabi owners, the Malhotra and Baidwan families. The regular menu is long and dignified, showcasing the curries and masalas that even casual eaters of Indian food would recognize, as well as seven kinds of saag; specialties of Madras, Danshak, Bombay and Punjab; and even colonial dishes like the vindaloos... The elegant, aptly named Little India does many things well, including a goodies-packed $5.95 lunch buffet and the saag paneer, a sophisticated take on creamed spinach. But the tandoori Cornish game hen is really something to crow about. Each little hen is marinated in yogurt that's been infused with garlic and ginger, then placed in the clay oven for a mesquite smoking that soaks into the meat; the high heat of the tandoor proves ideal for sealing in the juices. The sky may not be falling,... More »
