Description

If every corner of the Lower East Side must be infiltrated by upscale restaurants, then hope they're all as good as this one. We were impressed by the beef short ribs braised to near blackness and positioned on a slow-moving glacier of polenta, and the appetizers were even more appealing, especially a trio of homemade sausages (lamb, pork, and duck) heaped with caramelized onions and presented with a piece of toast. Desserts are also worth considering, especially the fussy little sundae that mixes chocolate and mint in several formulations. But the wine list and menu are too damn expensive for this plain, modest space.
