The folks from Reef seem to have struck gold with their idea to serve Houston gourmet-style sliders and fries in a casual, counter-service environment. Tiny burger options at the popular Montrose spot include chicken, beef or black bean. Former Houston Press food critic Robb Walsh thinks they have some of the best fries in town. And if you want to get adventurous, try the Dude, a white Russian-flavored shake with actual booze in it. The interior here is a bit sterile, but patio is expansive and shady.

Is the mushroom slider back? I sure hope so. Don't underestimate the sangria freeze.
I like the beef sliders best, with the caramelized onions. The fries are good - one order is enough for at least three. The deck is really nice, and pet-friendly.
Owner Bryan Caswell is a fervent proponent of local music, and when he acquired a jukebox for his slider shack off Montrose, he set out to de-Journey the machine by adding in some of our city's best indie acts. From the spry indie-pop of Wild Moccasins to the wail of The Tontons, the jukebox is quickly amassing quite the 713-centric lineup. Caswell, who also helms the swanky Reef in Midtown, hasn't forgotten H-Town's roots, as you can still pump the machine with jingle and hear Townes Van... More »
