Marquee and Tenjune aren't the only places to dance in this town (but you're not there for the dancing, are you?). Lit offers stellar DJs spinning anything with a good pulse (though they tend towards the New Wave, and have for years), surprisingly cheap drinks and frequent open-bar hours, and a tiny, cozy space for boozing/schmoozing. The real intimacy and gyrating is found downstairs in the cave-like bunker where no one cares what you're wearing, only when it's coming off.
I love Single Red Cent! They have great punk rock/pop music sound. My favorite song is Wearwolf. I checked them out in Brooklyn at the Trash Bar and excited to see them in Manhattan. It will be a cool show!
