Just off Newark Avenue in an industrial slough across from the fire station, and dwarfed by the turnpike extension passing overhead, Lisa's is an oasis of Guyanese cuisine, though you can also get the usual deli and breakfast sandwiches there. Opt instead for the goat roti-rich bony morsels deposited with potato-and-chickpea curry in a flatbread, first brought to South America by Bengali immigrants. Other roti stuffings include oxtail, stewfish, and curry chicken. Rice dishes and snacks such as kumar, cassava ball, and fried chana round out the menu at this tiny spot (with seating).
