Description

The Western-themed Capitol Hill cornerstone of bar maven Linda Derschang's empire features her signature taxidermied creatures, cold beers on tap, and the best Bloody Mary recipe in town (the perfect hangover-curing weekend brunch accompaniment). The inside is usually packed as is the bar on the expansive back patio, a necessary addition for packed summer nights when it's tough to navigate through the crowd. For smokers there's the back-back patio, an enclosed lounge that manages to skirt around the city's 25-foot no-smoking policy.

  • 2011 | Best Jukebox

Not too long ago, you could walk into just about any bar and instantly get a sense of what the place was like simply by slipping a few quarters into the jukebox and perusing the record selection. It was sort of like judging a suitor based on the 15 songs he or she compiled for you on a mixtape. Of course, all that changed with the invention of the Internet jukebox. Sure it's convenient to have every song in the history of mankind available with just a few clicks on a touch screen, but it... More »

  • 2010 | Best Hipster Bar to Withstand Trends

New bars constantly come and go on Capitol Hill, but Linda's Tavern is still sitting pretty after celebrating its sweet 16 this year. The once cash-and-beer-only establishment has seen a few changes--it now accepts credit cards and houses a full bar and kitchen, and the jukebox plays CDs instead of vinyl. But nightlife guru Linda Derschang has also held on to the qualities that made her tavern so popular upon inception: ironic Northwest decor, cheap-ass drinks, and a happy hour (7–... More »

I love this dive. Killer jukebox, stiff drinks, greasy food, and a paint by number mural adorning the walls of their enormous patio.

Linda's is such an iconic spot in Seattle - I love it! She's also pretty fabulous! History moment - she used to own Vice Roy in Belltown, which is now Rob Roy (another great spot).
