Description

A hip crowd packs the tables in the small dining rooms and, in good weather, fills the patio that faces Sixth Avenue. Pop music blasts from the speakers, and cocktail waitresses too young to be jaded sling cocktails - and lots of them. Welcome to Lime XS, where Americanized Mexican plates rule the menu and every party starts with a basket of deep-fried flour tortilla chips and salsa. Happy hour is a big draw, with its inexpensive margaritas and taco deals; late nights often devolve into utter dance-party debauchery. The bar has also gained traction as a bachelorette party spot, since it offers free rounds for brides-to-be.

    How sweet it is! Lime, the homegrown chain that started in Larimer Square and now stretches from Greenwood Village to Winter Park, is known for its Tuesday-night tacos, its fresh (flour) chips, its strong margaritas. But our favorite item here is the tamales, offered both as an app and an entree. The tamales are vegetarian and all about corn, corn and more corn. Inside each corn-husk package you'll find a steaming layer of masa surrounding a succulent, sweet corn filling. Smothered in Lime's red (also vegetarian) or green (chicken, not pork) chile, this is one hot tamale!

    Sure lots of places around town have $1 tacos on Tuesdays, but some of them are so tiny you could fit 2 of them in your hand. Not so at Lime on 6th, they are tasty and you actually need both hands to hold 'em!
