Description

Look below street level for this Larimer Square treasure, which serves the town's best margaritas in an equally praiseworthy bar. Once you've descended the stairs to this below-ground restaurant/club, the flavor remains tangy and festive through inspired partitioning, a twist of Mexican inspiration, a youthful crowd and a fresh DJ lineup. Lime's food also commands attention: This is reasonably priced but inventive Mexican-American cuisine, from deep-fried flour tortillas that start each meal to excellent desserts. And be sure to say yes to the complimentary shot of tequila that comes in a lime.

  • 2009 | Best Tamales

How sweet it is! Lime, the homegrown chain that started in Larimer Square and now stretches from Greenwood Village to Winter Park, is known for its Tuesday-night tacos, its fresh (flour) chips, its strong margaritas. But our favorite item here is the tamales, offered both as an app and an entree. The tamales are vegetarian and all about corn, corn and more corn. Inside each corn-husk package you'll find a steaming layer of masa surrounding a succulent, sweet corn filling. Smothered in Lime's... More »

  • 2002 | Best New Bar

Already the bomb, Lime is primed to go thermonuclear once the good weather comes to stay. That's when owners Curt Sims and William Logan will throw open the French doors in the back of their basement space and debut Lime's grand outdoor patio, sunken below Larimer Square and surrounded by high brick walls. Until then, fast-spreading word of mouth will surely continue to pour bodies into the bar side of Lime, where the fresh, cool mood lighting designed by Logan and the bar's signature Mighty... More »

  • 2002 | Best Margarita

You may feel as though you're sitting inside a big lime in Lime, a trendy, way-cool space, but that just makes you crave a marg all the more. Pucker up: Lime's Mighty Margarita is 21 ounces of frozen glory, a mix of Sauza Gold tequila, Grand Marnier and a signature (and secret) lime mix that's more like a breath of citrus-kissed air than a slug of sweet-and-sour. The menu promises that "one is all you need," and it's right. Yowza! (Lightweights can have a "Mini Mighty.") More »
