Description

In geographic terms, Tom Silargorn's second branch is less than a mile away from his first, but in cultural terms it's on the other side of town: Hayes Valley's pre-Symphony-dinner-and-$400-shoes strip. The new Lers Ros serves lunch combos that resemble anything you'd find at more Americanized Thai restaurants nearby, as well as a daring wine list the likes of which few restaurateurs attempt. But all the dishes that have made Lers Ros famous among Thai and non-Thai San Franciscans are here: papaya salad with blue crab, sauteed meats with green peppercorns and house chile sauce, fried quail covered in toasted garlic, seabass steamed with chile and lime. The curries are toothless, and you're better off skipping the noodles here — order from the salads list, the specials page, and the "Original Thai Style" section of the menu.
