Description

Formerly Coach & Willies Phoenix's pro sports franchises have a way of stomping all over your heart. Either they'll come close to winning the big one, only to find a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, or won't even contend at all. Suffice it to say, the barkeeps at this downtown establishment, located near both U.S. Airways Center and Chase Field, know how to whip up something strong to take the edge off the agony of defeat. Around a dozen different import and domestic beers are on tap at the gorgeous marble-topped bar (including Widmer Hefeweizen, Samuel Adams, Sierra Nevada, and Dos Equus), and the pour is reasonably strong on their mixed drinks, especially on such standards as the Tequila Sunrise, gin and tonic, and Long Islands. A full menu of comfort pub grub is also available, ranging from burgers and wraps (the bourbon steak is our favorite) to pastas and pizzas.

    Not being able go to the game doesn't burn nearly as bad when you can watch it from Coach & Willie's. Since 2000, this downtown establishment has been winning customers over with its killer patio and stiff drinks.
