The capital of banh mi in AZ, banh mi being those Vietnamese submarine sandwiches crafted with crusty French bread and filled with any number of items including pork meatballs, barbecued pork slices, headcheese, ham, pté, cilantro, pickled daikon, and so on. These Southeast Asian sammies are dead cheap -- usually under $3 per -- and terribly tasty. Lee's is a big, gleaming place, with smoothies made of everything from durian to mango, and dark, rich Vietnamese-style coffee. While there, don't forget to try the bite-size Delimanjoo, decadent little pastries filled with hot cream.

The ham and cheese sandwich is so good! There's no other place in town (that I know of) that has the same kind of sandwich. The fresh baguettes only add to the tastyness of this meal.
Make sure you try one of the Thai teas. They come in a bunch of different flavors
Just when we thought we'd eaten every sandwich under the sun, we discovered the beauty of Lee's Sandwiches' banh mi -- and now we're obsessed. What's banh mi, you ask? It's a hefty Vietnamese-style sub, with such fillings as pâté, barbecued pork, or a combination of sliced meats stuffed into a crusty French baguette, and embellished with mayo, fresh cilantro, sliced jalapeño, and pickled daikon and carrots for extra flavor and crunch. It's nice to have a few... More »
The sammies this San Jose-based chain trades in are banh mi, the culinary intersection of Vietnamese and French influences. The Frogs contributed the thin, très crusty French bread, along with mayo and butter. And the Vietnamese added cilantro, pickled daikon and carrots. They split the difference, however, on the meats used, with Gallic-styled ham and pork liver pâte getting equal billing with Chinese barbecued pig and crushed Vietnamese pork meatballs, in addition to headcheese and s...
