This spacious bar and grill hidden in the back of the Harbor Shops has all the trappings of a sports bar: two bars inside and out, plenty of big screen TVs (including two projection screens), and some good pub food to match. Lunch specials start around $7, and feature creative choices like a fried snapper Reuben made with local fish and jalapeno slaw, and grilled cheese on challah with great house-made chili. The place also makes great prime rib that it ages for four weeks, then smokes to completion. Happy hour runs 4 to 7 p.m. daily, and everything is half price during that time. There's a few problems, though: The central bar is pretty small, and the televisions above it are mounted really high. You've got to crank your neck to see any games on; that, or face away from the bar awkwardly and watch the projection screen behind you. Our suggestion: Come on a weekend, grab a breezy patio seat, and partake in the bloody mary bar (11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday). For four bucks you get to a double shot of vodka and access to over 20 bloody mary fixings, from tomato juice and lime to an outstanding homemade mix.

Everyone makes bloody marys differently, and that's what makes them the ultimate brunch drink. Any Southern belle would be remiss not to sip hers with a skewer of pickled okra. The bon temps in Louisiana are most commonly supplemented by house-pickled green beans. Here in Florida, we're bastard children: We want our marys strong and extra bloody (read: spicy), and the more ingredients, well, the better. Enter Lauderdale Grill's weekend bloody mary bar. The restaurant offers an entire buffet... More »
