Description

Like most successful food endeavors, L’Arte Del Gelato started out as a labor of love, but with a love for classic Italian gelato. With techniques gathered from artisans in Italy and high-quality ingredients from both local and international sources, L’Arte Del Gelato in Chelsea Market serves up unusually creamy gelato and sorbet in a rotating, seasonal cast of flavors available as standalone scoops, sundaes, and gelato sandwiches. The Chelsea Market location is always crowded, and lines form fast, so it’s not the most romantic or relaxing place for a scoop of gelato, but the taste is usually worth it. The flavors are particularly pungent, too: Typically faint ice cream flavors like pear or green apple have a satisfying bite, and every once in a while an unorthodox flavor such as olive oil pops up, so its worth making the trip at least several times a year. --Shane Barnes

The original branch is hidden away in an obscure corner of Chelsea Market, and there's an outdoor kiosk in Lincoln... More »
