This downtown steakhouse occupies a plush room in the Westfield San Francisco Center, convenient for shoppers and moviegoers, and offers many other dishes (poultry, seafood, vegetarian) in addition to an array of grilled and roasted steaks. We loved the baseball-shaped six-ounce filet and the interesting vegetable sides. Not an inexpensive spot, but Lark Creek Steak is satisfying.
We were enjoying lunch at Lark Creek Steak recently with a cowboy and a Rastafarian, and while you wouldn't think that these two would get along so swell, there we were, having the best time. Did we mention that these individuals were a burger... More »

We're a city of burgers: the homely, the grass-fed, the absurdly truffled. And while it's easy to put out a good-tasting burger if you've buried the thing under aioli, bacon, and onion jam, it's hard to do minimal well. For that, each object in a... More »
The most important component to me of a restaurant is its food, more than its location, decor, or service. I'm happiest, of course, when all four meld into a seamlessly pleasant experience, but I'll seek out deliciousness off the beaten track,... More »
While it's relatively easy to put out a good-tasting burger if you've buried the thing under aioli, bacon, and onion jam, it's hard to do minimal well. To be perfect, each object in a very limited field of elements has to be exactly right. Lark Creek Steak's steakburger comes close, thanks to scraps from the in-house butchery program. The kitchen takes all the bits from its Marin Sun Farms ribeyes and New York steaks, Wagyu filets, and other prime-meat trim and sends them through the... More »
Panna cotta means cooked cream, and it differs from other custards, such as crčme caramel, in that it's thickened with gelatin rather than egg. It needs a light hand with the gelatin to be successful, but it has become a very popular dessert. We've had it served with fresh fruit, slicked with a variety of sauces, flavored with a number of essences. But we've never had a panna cotta as luscious, as seductive, as diabolical as the creamy almond-flavored panna cotta topped with a layer of thick c... More »
Lark Creek Steak's steakburger and cowboy burger (with bacon, cheddar, and grilled crispy onions) are the best burgers I've eaten in the past 2 years. (That includes 50 restaurants across CA, AZ, NV, and WA, and places that have won burger kudos and awards). They use double-ground steak cuttings, not prime chuck, for the beef. Great buns that are toasted inside so condiments don't slop in; butter lettuce (not iceberg); thin sliced crispy pickles...down to the last detail, one helluva burger. Shop your brains out at Westfield, then treat yourself to one of these burgers. Detailed LCS burger reviews on http://meatmeister.wordpress.com
