Aesthetically speaking, nothing much stands out about the Larimer Lounge: The stage is awkwardly placed, the sound is decent, and the bathrooms are a bit cramped. But the Lounge does one thing better than anyone else in the area: It brings the rock. And besides, most of the great rock rooms in history -- the now-defunct Jabberjaw in L.A., CBGB in New York, Emo's in Austin -- weren't exactly known for their decor. Those looking for posher environs would do well to venture farther south into LoDo, but if you're looking for cheap suds and the best sounds from the brightest acts on the indie-rock circuit, the Larimer's your place. On any given night of the week, you can expect to see three or four quality artists -- local and national -- for about what you'd pay to park in LoDo.

Larimer Lounge is perfectly sh!tty... haha. The walls are dinged up and the rafters can be seen in the back of the club. It's divey, but it's all about the music here. I like the place because the acts are the up-and-coming bands and they literally play right in front of you. There's really no distance separating you from the band. That's pretty cool.
