There are three Laredo Taquerias, each with its own appeal. The original on Washington Avenue is convenient to downtown and the Heights, and the one on Patton and Fulton looks like your abuelas house is South Texas. But the Laredo Taqueria on Cavalcade has the best food. Dont miss the calabacita tacos, the cabrito ranchero tacos and the chile verde tacos all served on hot, handmade tortillas. No its not authentic Mexican; its South Texas Tejano cuisine.

If it's down-home comfort you seek, look no further than Laredo Taqueria. From the woman behind the counter hand-rolling the softest of tortillas to the Little League photos and ceramic tiles depicting the Virgin Mary on the walls, this cozy one-room joint on the north side of town just off I-45 brings home the feeling of an old-timey taqueria. Fall into line alongside the display case that boasts simmering troughs of pork, chicken and fajita meats, all of which are falling-apart tender, and you'll see why this little gem is often packed. Plus, at $1.50 for a taco bursting with this much flavor, the price will make you feel good, too.
It all kicks off early in the morning when the women behind the counter start hand-rolling the softest tortillas in town. You could stuff anything in these velvety creations and it would taste good. Luckily, though, there are more than enough simple yet delicious breakfast creations to sate even the pickiest of eaters. Try the egg, potato and green chile, the egg and spicy chorizo or the egg and green bean tacos, topped with a tasty red salsa that lets the cilantro and onion really shine... More »
Laredo Taqueria The interior of this popular taco joint at the corner of Fulton and Patton is cheerfully decorated with ceramic roosters and Mexican crockery, and it's always spotlessly clean. Sit down for table service, or stand in line for tacos to go. While you go down the cafeteria line, you can watch two women roll out and toast the fresh flour tortillas you're about to eat. The steam table is small, but everything on it is wonderfully fresh. In the morning, there are no fewer than six... More »
