Ladies Laugh-In 

A couple of years ago, Heather Snow decided she wanted to do standup. Building her comedic chops around the city at open mikes, Snow noticed early on that with the small amount of time allotted to new comics, it was harder to hone her craft.

Enter Ladies Laugh-In, a monthly comedic showcase curated by Snow and hosted by musician Chella Negro. Though the night's name and objective definitely focus on giving women time in the spotlight, the event is all about both sexes. "I wanted to see women moving up," Snow says of the event's female focus, "but there were also a lot of guys interested in performing, and I didn't want to turn them down."

Snow says the night has come to serve two purposes -- giving newbies a chance while letting more established comics try out fresh material. "It's a very intelligent room," Snow says of the event, adding that instead of fighting for stage time, key players like Nora Lynch and Jodee Champion are getting some long-overdue attention.
