This rollicking North Beach hangout serves up a limited array of Belgian specialties along with two hundred Old Country beers, most of them unique and delectable (try the bright, bracing Radermacher Rader Blonde). Notable edibles include a comforting bowl of chicken waterzooi (soupy stew), and steamed mussels with twice-cooked Belgian frites. Seductive subterranean setting.

Every time I go, I try something new. I ask one of the bartenders for a suggestion, tell them what I'm in the mood for (dark, light, hoppy, etc) and they always serve up a winner. Great place!
It's not entirely surprising that in a third-millennium universe of easily derailed attention spans and quickly consumed info-nibbles, the ancient cuisine of Belgium, jewel of the North Sea, should be reduced to beer, fries, and mayonnaise. While... More »
