One of the most efficient and cheerless of the Mission taquerias (basically just a steamy white box), but it purveys some of the most delicious and inexpensive burritos and tacos around.
BEST burritos hands down. When I lived in the City went there at least once a week. Worked in the financial district, we would actually take BART at lunchtime, hustle in, order and get back on the train with enough time to get back to work with food for everyone. When I travel to CA now have to make a stop and get my carne asada burrito fix - STILL the best I've ever had.....
I've been going here since I can remember, I'm 26 now, and their quality has never, ever gone down. The prices fluctuate with the economy, sure, but it's still a good deal on delicious, quality, food.
The BEST burritos on earth. Everything great. The food here is savory, fresh, and wonderful. The lines out the door and repeated awards prove it.

It's not really like I need an excuse to go out and spend a day eating around -- it's my job, after all -- but sometimes I do enjoy a nudge in a certain direction. And the Jan. 20 issue of The New Yorker provided just that, with a slightly cranky... More »
As the name implies, this, well, taqueria forgoes the frills you might find at the Mission's other Mexican hot spots to focus on the heart of the burrito, the meat. It's reminiscent of the style favored in that little border town called San Diego. Gone is the rice, and with it options like spinach tortillas and refried black beans. The meat is the star, and La Taqueria has got the meat right. The carne asada, or grilled steak, is deservedly regarded by regulars as the best the city has to... More »
