It’s easy to find a quality Mexican bakery in Phoenix, but La Purisima Pasteleria is still worth the drive to Glendale for its fresh baked breads and pastries. There’s usually a line, but that’s ok because there’s too much eye candy to choose from. While you wait your turn, it’s time to make some tough decisions: a highly addictive molasses-flavored cochinitos, the giant pink cookies shaped like pigs, or an apple dipped in salty sweet chocolate chamoy sauce? How about some soft, freshly made tortillas, or a dozen green and red chile tamales made with pork, cheese, roasted red pepper, and corn? The panderia also has a wide selection of pan dulce, plain but delicious sweet buns that are perfect to enjoy with a cup of coffee in the morning. If you’re making the trek across town to see what the buzz is all about at La Purisima Pasteleria, just remember one thing: bring cash.

Like a beacon of baked goodness, this giant blue building in Glendale is sure to catch your attention, if the aromas coming from its fragrant pastries and breads don't get to you first.
