La Piazza al Forno, a family-owned, reasonably priced Italian joint, brings plenty of personality to downtown Glendale. In the middle of the action, tossing handmade pizza dough in the open kitchen, is chef-owner Justin Piazza; his wife, Rachel, keeps an eye on the dining room. Tasty wood-fired pies are the biggest reason to stop by if you're in the 'hood, although there are some noteworthy entrees, including the chicken pesto lasagna. And even if you think you're full, trust us -- you'll find room for cannoli or homemade cheesecake as soon as it's in front of you.
La Piazza Al Forno, the Glendale pizza spot famous for its real-deal Neapolitan pizza, hit the big time after its appearance on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. In fact, the place has become so successful... More »

In downtown Glendale sits one of the Valley's best pizza joints, where Justin Piazza and crew use a wood-fueled brick oven and top-notch ingredients (including San Marzano tomatoes imported from Italy) to whip up thin, crispy Neapolitan-style pies as specified by Italian trade organization Associazone Verace Pizza Napoletana. Start with the classic, the Regina Margherita, with its bubbly crust, wonderful mozzarella di bufala and fresh basil. Then, graduate to the Bianca, a white pie topped... More »
At La Piazza al Forno, pizza means two things -- Neapolitan and wood-fired. Thanks to homemade mozzarella and dough, San Marzano tomatoes imported from Italy, and recipes from the old country, chef Justin Piazza and his family have been servin' up a tight selection of phenomenal Neapolitans courtesy of a wood-fueled brick oven since they opened their neighborhood eatery in downtown Glendale over three years ago. With plenty of pies to choose from, each on a crispy and thin, but hearty... More »
Yeah, yeah, Guy Fieri made his mark here (literally, with a stencil on the wall), but we didn't need the extroverted Food Network personality to tell us how good La Piazza is. The proof is simply in the pies, hand-tossed Neapolitan beauties that chef-owner Justin Piazza bakes in his roaring wood-fired oven. From the meat-laden Italian Stallion (covered in pepperoni, proscuitto, sausage, sopressata, San Marzano tomatoes, and housemade mozzarella) to the wonderfully garlicky Pizza Bianca,... More »
When we imagine the ideal neighborhood Italian joint, we picture a casual, convivial spot on a charming street, a place where locals gobble up great pizza, knock back a few glasses of wine over steaming bowls of pasta, and are generally treated like family by doting owners. And guess what? It's not just a figment of our imagination. We just described La Piazza al Forno, a gem of a place planted right in the midst of quaint downtown Glendale. Thanks to an open kitchen, customers can chat with... More »
