Since 1999, Yaser Kholoud and Khalaf have had the kitchen staff throughout their five-shop pizza chain toss dough daily, including a whole-wheat crust. What comes out of the ovens isn't your average purveyor of fast-food sauce-and-cheese with desiccated toppings. Among the popular pizza pies are the classic Margherita (marinara sauce, buffalo mozzarella and shredded basil) and the meat lover's dreamy American (pepperoni, Italian sausage, Canadian bacon, bell and banana peppers, black olives, red onions, mushrooms and mozzarella on tomato sauce). For the meat eaters who'd rather not fuss with veggies, there is the Carnivoro. For customers who enjoy a bit of whimsy with their pizza there is the ranch-based Malibu Barbie. The menu also allows for customization and offers pasta, sandwiches and calzones. But you'll have to bring your own chianti. LA is BYOB.
