The tiny kitchen at La Fuente -- a groovy, low-rent Mexican joint -- turns out big flavors in all its food, but one of the largest draws to this Highland eatery is the plump breakfast burritos. There are nearly a dozen manifestations of them, all featuring soft scrambled eggs and shards of crisp-edged potatoes with your choice of meat or beans. But the crowning glory is the fiery, pork-punctuated green chile, either tucked into the tortilla or poured over it. Seething with intensity, these gut bombs weigh only slightly less than a newborn; they’re well worth skulking into the office late in order to snag one, and in the event that you can’t sink your teeth in before the time clock calls you tardy, they’re available all day, every day. Of course, if you’re in the mood for a breakfast sandwich -- or a tamale or a dozen, closer to lunchtime -- La Fuente will do you right in those regards, too.
