Description

As its name says, part of the restaurant is a mariachi hall. It's unbelievably packed with musicians and dancers on weekend nights. But the other half of the place is a first-rate Mexican restaurant, specializing in seafood. Garlic fish is outstanding, regional soups are gripping, and when the menu says spicy, it ain't kidding.

    No quinceañera or boda (Mexican wedding) in sight to satisfy your thirst for the joyous blare of mariachis? There's always La Casa del Mariachi, where the excellent Mexican fare, the Crayola-bright interior, and the music makes it the place to be. On weekends, the adjacent dancehall hosts quite the fiesta with a full mariachi band, brass and all.

    The worst thing a Mexican restaurant can do is hire a bad mariachi band. Imagine being tied to your table, waiting for the check, while the Mexican Hat Dance plays for the umpteenth time. Shudder. We've been there. Thankfully, you won't have that experience at La Casa del Mariachi. Sure, the interior is pure kitsch, with faux tile roofs, candy-colored walls and burro murals.
