Description

This old-school tortilleria in East Los Angeles, home to some of the best flour tortillas in the city, has been open for over 65 years and garnered hundreds of regulars. There’s even a small menu for customers who can't wait to go home to eat their freshly assembled tortillas. The burritos, made with those profoundly awesome flour tortillas, are fantastic. Try the one embellished by a meringue-battered whole chile relleno, expert refried beans, and a simple chopped pico de gallo salsa Mexicana. The subtle sweetness of the roasted poblano chile envelopes the molten streak of creamy white cheese inside, breaking the salt-on-salt paradigm of your typical burrito.

Consequently, it makes the best burrito in town: one made with profoundly awesome flour tortillas, obviously, but also embellished by a meringue-battered whole chile relleno, expert refried beans and a simple chopped pico de gallo salsa Mexicana. Maybe this is because the subtle sweetness of the... More »
