As in a scene from Grease, men drive up and down 86th Street, ogling the ponytailed girls who sit at outdoor tables on warm summer evenings at L & B Spumoni Gardens. More like an amusement park than a restaurant, three conjoined eateries offer, respectively, good Sicilian pizza, stupendous spumoni, and uneven southern Italian fare-go for anything featuring eggplant or ricotta.
Better than a viewing of the movie or musical Grease--and much more satisfying in a gustatory sense--is L&B Spumoni Gardens. Located in the sinister-sounding region of Gravesend (which was one of the six original towns of Brooklyn, and the only English one), it feels like a theme park with its trio of eateries.
