The chicken schwarma turning in the front window is divine. Cumin-dusted and moist, it's hacked off the cylinder at just the right moment and served on a pita. A paper basket on the side lets you load up with purple cabbage slaw, grilled eggplant, two kinds of peppers, pickles, onions, and baby falafel squeezed out of a scary machine that sits on the rear counter. Three chicken sauces are available: tahina, a Yemenite cilantro chutney, and, our favorite, a very tart mango dressing. Also available: Kosher Chinese that's not half bad.
Don't miss the chicken schwarma spinning in the front window at Kosher Delight. Served in a pita or the preferable laffa (bigger!), the cumin-dusted meat glows when heaped with the free selections from the salad bar - grilled eggplant, pickled peppers, and various slaws.
Broadway north of Macy's is home to several kosher eateries, and which twirls the best chicken shawarma is a hotly contested issue. KOSHER DELIGHT puts the mystery meat right in the front window, flinging off rich odors of ground coriander and schmaltz. Though the sandwich (pick pita or baguette) is stratospherically priced at $6.50, this expenditure entitles you to cruise the salad bar, which includes all sorts of pickled items and caus- tic Yemenite sauces.
