Description

Korzo Haus is a burger place, but there is a twist: Burgers can be wrapped and fried inside of their bun. The burger options vary from the typical (the Otto: beef, American cheese, iceberg slaw, tomato and onion) to the exotic (the Slav: beef, pork neck, sauerkraut, juniper berries and bryndza), but each is unique and delicious. The menu aside from burgers is limited and decidedly Slavic, with lots of bratwurst, a housemade sauerkraut, and a halusky that can be ordered fried. Noteable, too, is the Stumptown coffee on brew and Korzo’s own craft beer on tap, making Korzo Haus the indisputable burger champ of the East Village. Seating is a little on the cramped side, by service is fast and so is the food, so even without reservations Korzo Haus is usually a safe bet for an easy meal. --Shane Barnes

Next it is implanted in a ball of yeast-risen dough, which is then deep-fried. The burger remains about the same level of doneness while the bread cooks to a coffee-bean brown on the outside. Put inside the ball with the patty is your choice of toppings. The "original" option also boasts bacon, house-made pickles, house-made mustard, and Emmentaler chees... More »
